Our Staff

All of our camp staff is bilingual (Hebrew & English) Some of us even speak French! Our specialist/Camp Directors are all artists and professional educators, while our Madrichim are all interested in arts and education. Our Counselors-In-Training are teenagers, ages 12-14 who have come through Open Studio programs in the past, and have decided to spend two weeks being mentored by our Senior Counselors.  Our staff/camper ration is 2:10 including one Senior Madrich (counselor or specialist) and one Counselor-in-Training.

Avigayle has been teaching for over 15 years. She has a Masters in Education from Hebrew University and is a graduate of the Pardes Educators’ Program. She has been a classroom teacher, informal educator and artist-in-residence at several summer camps, seminary programs, and museums throughout the United States and Israel. Avigayle moved to Israel six years ago and founded “The Open Studio”. As a new immigrant, she was awarded the distinction of Oman Mitztayen, or “Outstanding Artist” by the Ministry of Absorption. She currently teaches English at the Waldorf Adam School in Jerusalem in addition to running the Open Studio.

Emily Wind

Emily is a teacher and an artist. She has a Masters in Education from Brandeis University, and she teaches both elementary school English and high school visual arts. Emily works closely with Avigayle on the behind-the-scenes work it takes to make camp outstanding.
